The Power of His Resurrection
H.H. Pope Shenouda III
Being a lecture which was originally given by His Holiness Pope Shenouda III on 8 May 1981, this is a rich and concise coverage of our Lord's Resurrection and its effects on His disciples, on the Church, and on our own lives, giving us hope and strength, and guiding us to everlasting life.
Christian Spirituality in a changing World
H.H. Pope Shenouda III
This lecture, which was delivered by Pope Shenouda at Saint Pancras Church, London, on Saturday 24 September, 1994, is typical of His Holiness's spiritual approach towards life, the reason for the growth and success of the Church, and the strength of its members.
A Time of Joy
H.H. Pope Shenouda III
This lecture given by His Holiness Pope Shenouda III on 4 May1988,speaks about the joyous forty days which our Lord spent with
His disciples after
His resurrection
and before His
ascension, teaching
them, comforting
them and giving
them the
foundations with
which they would
serve the whole of
mankind.
Jonah the Prophet
H.H. Pope Shenouda III
The holy Church's concern over the story of Jonah the Prophet with the Ninevites has
surpassed her concern for
many Biblical stories.
She designated for it a feast, preceded by a three-day fast for the whole congregation in strict asceticism. This fast is a prelude to and preparation for the forty days of Lent, always preceding it by two weeks and having the same hymns.
These pages try to
explain:
.The beneficial spiritual contemplations inherent in the Book,
.How the story is an exemplar of repentance and of God's work in saving the souls of His fold, whether gentiles or prophets, and
.How God, in His longsuffering and endurance, always succeeds in winning people.
We present this to you simply as a door to be opened for your own contemplations.
Comparative Theology
H.H. Pope Shenouda III
We are in an age in which Ecumenical work and attempts towards the recovery of the Christian Unity have flourished. The meetings between the Churches, in councils, conferences and symposiums have increased, and the fields of co-operation and co-working have multiplied.
However, unity is in a much higher level than cooperation. The Christian Unity should be built on the foundation of the one faith. Thus began the theological discussions between the Churches.
This book in your hands is a step in this theological discussion between us and our brethren the Protestants.
The Protestants comprise numerous denominations. There are partial differences between them, but as a whole they are enclosed within one frame. We will try in an atmosphere of love to discuss the points they have in common.
Here we do not include our brethren the Anglicans, as most of the topics in this book apply to other denominations of the Protestant Church.
In our discussion we have taken care to depend exclusively upon the Holy Bible, quoting none of the sayings of the Church Fathers or Tradition, because our Protestant brethren are not convinced by either of these. They concentrate on the Holy Bible and so shall we, in our discussion with them.
We shall speak with absolute frankness in handling the points of difference between Protestantism and Orthodoxy. We shall analyse them and see the opinion of the Holy Bible on them.
This book is the first volume of our discussion. It will be followed by others to cover the remaining points of difference, with the aspiration that this may bring us to a dogmatic and intellectual understanding.
We are prepared to reply to all the comments which we may receIve.
Lastly, we pray that the Lord may preserve our discussion in the atmosphere of love of which we are circumspect.

COPT(Australia)
Agpia
The word Agpia pronounced (Agp-eya) is derived from the Coptic word "Agp" which means hour. Hence the title "Agp-eya" denotes the Prayer of the Hours.
This edition of the Agpia has been revised in the following areas :
1. All scripture references are from the Holy
Bible (New King James Version)
2. The Prayer of the Veil and the Priests' Absolution have been added.
3. Numbers in brackets refer to psalms in the Coptic Agpia. Eg:
PSALM 23 (22) (The LORD is my shepherd ...)
Is Ps 23 in the NKJV & is Ps 22 in the Coptic translation.
4. Psalms Index added.
We pray that this may be of benefit to your spiritual life.
Love, The Summit of Virtues
H.H. Pope Shenouda III
We have chosen the topics of this book from many different topics about
love. They were given in the form of lectures from the 1960's to the 1990's,
whether in St Mark's Hall at El Anba Reweis or at St Mark's Cathedral or
during weeks of revival at some dioceses in Lower Egypt. We eventually published more than thirty articles about the same subject in "Watany" newspaper.
We published this book about "Love" after two books that were pub
lished before: one about " Faith" and the other about " Hope", to com
plete the group of "Faith, Hope and Love" that St Paul concentrated on, in 1 Cor 13:13.
"Love" is a very long topic, therefore we have divided the book into a number of chapters. They are:
- A general word about love and its importance.
- God's love for us and for the whole creation.
- Our love for God.
- Our love for people.
- Conditions of love according to (1 Cor 13).
- Lukewarmness of love: "... I have this against you, that you have left your
first love" (Rev 2:4).
Each of these six points has its many elements and derivations.
We pray to God that love may reign over the hearts of all, according to the commandment of the Lord Jesus Christ and according to His teachings that love is the greatest commandment in the law, and on love hang all the Law and the Prophets (Mt 22::35-40).
This book about love could be an introduction to another book about the fruit of the Spirit which starts with love, as in Gal 5:22-23. That could be followed by another book about "The Fear of God", lest we take advantage of love in the wrong way...
May God guide us to His ways, through the intercessions of all the saints.
The Spiritual Means
H.H. Pope Shenouda III
This book consists of 11 chapters dealing with eleven Spiritual Means which are:
- Prayer
- The Holy Bible
- Reading The Lives of The
Saints
- Contemplation
- Spiritual Training
- Giving Account of Oneself 7. Confession
- Holy Communion
- Fasting
- Giving
And God's Partnership in Our Possessions
- The Service
And its Successful Conditions
Each of these topics needs a book by itself, so we concentrated on basics as much as possible.
The book represents the positive sides of your Spiritual Life. As for Diabolic & Spiritual Warfares, they represent the negatives.
Contemplation of the Prayer of Thankgiving & Psalm 51(50)
H.H. Pope Shenouda III
In the introduction to each prayer in the Agpia, the prayer book of the Seven Canonical Hours, we say the Prayer of Thanksgiving and Psalm 51 (SO). The book you have in your hands has contemplations on both prayers.
We publish it as an introduction to certain prayers that are common in the Agpia prayers.
There will be another book on the Trisagion, then a third book on the Lord's Prayer, then other prayers...
Our main aim is to encourage you to get to the depth of the prayer's words and to let your prayer have more depth, more understanding and to mean each word that you utter ...
Then you will feel that the Agpia prayers have great effect on your spirituality.
The Spiritual Man
H.H. Pope Shenouda III
You read in this book about some fundamental qualities of the Spiritual Man which include:
He is an image of God, his heart is with God, he puts God first and lives for the Lord.
He is a spiritual person who lives by the spirit, above the level of the body, soul and what is seen.
He is a strong person and successful, who leads a life of victory and self control. He has his concept of rest and labour.
He lives by the spirit and not by the letter.
He has an integral personality.
This book presents some of the spiritual principles and values which you must qualify to become a spiritual man.
May the Grace of God be with you to strengthen and lead you in this spiritual way.
