HE Archbishop Angaelos of London, became the new President of Bible Society on 21 September 2017, taking over from Dr Richard Chartres, former Bishop of London, who is retiring after 6 years as our President.

Churches Together in England (CTE)

Archbishop Angaelos is one of the six Presidents of CTE and sits on the following national boards and committees; Senior Representatives Forum, Theology and Unity Group, Spirituality Group and Enabling Group

Churches Together in Britain and Ireland (CTBI)

Archbishop Angaelos is Moderator of Churches Together in Britain and Ireland.

The Church of England General Synod

During the February 2012 session of the General Synod, Archbishop Angaelos was welcomed as the first appointed representative of The Council of Oriental Orthodox Churches in the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland to the General Synod.

Council of the Oriental Orthodox Churches in the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland (COOC)

The Council aims to facilitate a common witness of the Christian Faith by its member Churches within their Orthodox Apostolic Tradition. Archbishop Angaelos is the current Chair.

Anglican-Oriental Orthodox Regional Forum (AOORF)

The aims of the Forum are to encourage the unity of the Church through common prayer, worship, witness and education; and to discuss current pastoral, social and political issues.

Archbishop Angaelos and the Rt Revd Geoffrey Rowell are the Co-chairs.

Catholic-Oriental Orthodox Regional Forum (COORF)

The work of the Forum is being laid on a solid foundation of friendship and real relationships that are fully realised and further built upon under its current Co-Chairs Archbishop Angaelos and Archbishop Kevin McDonald.

Churches Interfaith Religious Network (CIRN), an ecumenical instrument of CTBI

His Eminence has been Moderator of the churches’ ecumenical forum on inter-faith matters since 2006.
